Once again lives up to a description of sad, but fun with this half-ironic record. Although it’s lyrically slightly more complex than previous records, it still is mostly similar in that regard. It has some interesting lyrical metaphors like “Dan pretends a plastic bag is something else” from the track The poured Boy of Kutná Hora, which seems to speak about how sea animals think how sea animals see plastic bags as jellyfish, same way as this Dan lies to himself. Musically track deviates slightly from rest of their last albums. There’s more prominent use of other instruments than acoustic guitar and drums. Such electric guitar (although it has been heavily used on album Don’t Piss On Me I’m Already Dead) and trumpets. Also, this album definitely is groovier than previous records.
Jk, Unassimilated Normie and My Political and Spiritual Beliefs in Less Than a Minute really dive into the ironic aspect of this record, with him making fun of the narrator in Jk and a little bit in Unassimilated Normie, while making fun of political songs on My Political and Spiritual Beliefs in Less Than a Minute
